Friends

Here is Dash and two of his best friends.  Sophia is the dog in the middle.  She is a long haired Chihuahua. Summer is on the far right and she is a Papillon. Sophia lives in Seattle with her people Cindy and Vicky.  She is one cool little dog who does everything a big dog can do plus more, and she is the one that inspired us to find a dog like Dash.  Summer lives with Barbara and they are based out of Miami, Florida but they travel all over the U.S. Barbara's job takes her lots of places and Summer is a great traveling partner.  Everyone loves Summer as she is really sweet except when she throws her head back and howls and then she is just funny.  Lucky for us we have had both Sophia and Summer stay with us at various times in the past.  We took this picture at Cindy's house last summer when all three dogs were in Seattle at the same time. 

Dash is Back!!!

The last time I updated the blog in Nov 2010 I ran into severe technical difficulties - it took me over 8 hours to upload photos.  Needless to say, I was very frustrated and it put me off blogging.

Time marches on and so does technology.  I am going to give it another try now that I have this new smartphone with an 8 megapixel camera  and easy peasy upload ability.

Today is Friday, February 24, 2012 and Dash went to his K9 Nose Work class in Woodenville.  He did great!!!

Super Dash for Halloween

My friend Olivia is 9 years old and I've known her since the day she was born. When Olivia was a baby she really bonded with Maxine,  her family's basset hound.  We called Olivia "the dog whisperer" because one of her first spoken words was "woof".  Until she learned more words Olivia used "woof" to say hello, goodbye and to express her contentment in general. It was so sweet and made my heart melt when Olivia would look at me, smile and say "woof". I felt so honored.

Olivia still loves dogs. She lives a few blocks away and drops in on us with her sister for a visit every so often. I think she comes to visit Dash more than me, but whatever gets her there is great. I'll drop what I'm doing and we'll go across the street and play in the park with Dash.  Olivia loves to pet Dash and give him treats.  Dash loves Olivia too.

Just before we left for Southern California, Olivia and her sister came by on their bikes for a visit and to say goodbye.  We were happy to see them as always, but I didn't have time to play so we just sat around the living room talking for a few minutes and the girls petted Dash.

Out of the blue Olivia asked "what is Dash going to be for Halloween?" Well, I have to say the topic had never entered my mind and I was stumped. So I asked her what she thought Dash should be and Olivia replied, without a moment's hesitation ..... "Superman".  So Olivia - thanks for the inspiration and this one's for you.

Dash and I went trick or treating to our friends house. They loved his costume and had great treats for the both of us.  After we snapped a few pictures I took Dash's costume off and I think he was relieved.  I'm kind of on the fence about dogs in costumes - the humans think it's cute but the dogs don't always look so happy. But since Olivia suggested it I decided to give it a try. 

We spent a lovely evening with our friends and their dogs Sunny and Jack.  At the end of the night Dash was worn out. Me too.

The other day I was feeling lucky so I bought three raffle tickets for this really cool Electra Beach Cruiser bicycle. Turns out, it was my lucky day and my number came up.  So now I have a nice new blue bike. As a friend once described her bike "it is a sweet ride".  Sweet indeed.

Dash is thrilled because he loves to run.  He can go for miles.  Here is a little snippet.

We're Here

Dash is in Southern California hanging out with family and friends.  Here he is relaxing by the pool.

Dash likes to be comfortable and there are many spots around the pool that he finds to nestle in.

Dash is very careful around the water - he won't get too close and he never jumps in.  But I do.

We're here in So Cal and enjoying life. That is all the news from Dash Land for today.

On the Road

Dash is headed to Southern California.  Dash is a great traveler - he is fine on the airplane in his soft sided carrier tucked under the seat in front of me. In the car he is not as comfortable but he is getting there. We are driving down and here is Dash in his kennel in the front seat of the car.

We stopped to visit a friend along the way.  Dash is a very good houseguest I am told and our friend thinks he is very intelligent too. We had a great visit, including a trip to the coast yesterday.  Here is Dash at the beach.

I took some video too but I haven't figured out how to upload video from my smart phone to the computer.  I'll publish it once I figure it out.
